Context Menu Editor is a freeware portable application for netbook users which can help you view and delete links to programs in the context menus (the pop-up menu you see when you right-click) of files, folders and Internet Explorer.
As you go on installing new software, you start messing Windows context menu. The more software you install on your system, the more the context menu items start piling up, making it harder to even spot a certain shortcut, when there are so many of them claiming a piece of your right-click menu. The only way to get a manageable context menu after all the mess is to delete the context menu items which you do not need.

Advanced users will basically do it themselves by using the Windows registry. But what about users who don’t want to mess around the registry editor for the fear of messing up the system. For the second kind of users, Context Menu Editor comes to the rescue. This application basically provides an easy way to get rid of the unwanted junk from the context menu.
Context Menu Editor does not delete the programs, it just removes the entry created by the program from your context menus. Menu deletions cannot be undone so please use with care, you may need to reinstall your software if you want them back. Context Menu Editor can view and delete menu items for right clicking on files, right clicking on folders and right clicking in Internet Explorer.

The user interface of the program is simple but functional. The window of Context Menu Editor is divided into several areas, but organized efficiently. The first field is the one that lets you choose which context menu you wish to tweak: the one belonging to files and folders or the one linked to Internet Explorer.
Depending on your choice, the application will display all the items belonging to that specific menu and just next to these listings you’ve got a section with a short item description, the location of the shell extension and a few details related to the company, file version and, product name and version.
To remove a context menu item, you just need to select it and press the “Delete From Menu” button. You will see a notification window, warning you about the consequences of the deletion. The effect of the deletion is immediate.
Context Menu Editor does a great job at tweaking the context menu of files and a lesser job at cleaning the one belonging to folders.
