Doro: Free PDF Printer For Windows Application, For Netbook Users

Doro PDF Writer is a free PDF printer for netbook users. It allows netbook users to convert and print PostScript files (.ps) into PDF files (.pdf) from any Windows program that supports printing.

When you download and install the application, it will install as a virtual printer. Using this virtual printer, you can create PDF files from any Windows program using the “Print” option. How to create a PDF file using Doro PDF writer?

• Open the file which you want to convert to PDF. For this tutorial, let us suppose, you want to print a Word document. Simply open that document in Word.
• After opening the Word file, select the “Print” option.
• Then select the printer labeled “Doro PDF Writer” and press OK.
• Doro PDF Writer will ask some basic questions and once you have filled them, click on the “create” button.
• In seconds your PDF file will be ready.

The Doro PDF Writer supports encryption which prevents further printing and plagiarism. The encryption is achieved by using 128-bit password protection. The user can specify whether they would like to use the 128-bit encryption or not while installing the software.

You can modify the Doro.ini file present in the install directory for automation options. In this file, you can specify all settings and set auto-printing. These settings can also be setup in the registry at HKCU\Software\CompSoft\Doro\Ini.

Doro PDF Writer also allows you to print non standard fonts in form of bitmaps. The Threshold to switch between downloading bitmap or outline font can be reduced by changing the settings as follows:

• Open the Control Panel and go to “Printers”.
• Select the Doro PDF Writer option. Click on “Properties” > “Fonts”.
• By selecting “Send Fonts As” option, settings can be modified.
