Duplicate Music Files Finder: Remove Duplicate Media Files From Your Netbook

Duplicate Music Files Finder (DMFF) is a free application for your netbook that finds, well, duplicate music files. The user interface is very simple, the options present can be easily understood and is very straight forward.

Duplicate Music Files Finder supports a large number of audio formats by default. You can find support from the popular MP3, WAV, WMA, OGG or MID to those less used like AAC, ASF, APE, MPC, MP1, MP2, SPX, M4A or M4B. But don’t worry if your particular music format is not supported as, the application is very flexible and easily lets you add your own custom file formats by simply typing in the extension.

DMFF compares music files by detecting duplicates in file name checking, file size analysis, CRC checking and an advanced module, which you can configure in Options menu. Adding files to be compared by the application can be done by only one way, i.e., by adding folders. It also does not support drag and drop, and individual file addition.

Even though DMFF may sound like an application to find only duplicate music files, but you can use it to find duplicates of other file types as well. You just have to instruct DMFF to look in all file formats under General options.

Advanced File Matching module is specially designed to find music files duplicates. You can easily configure Advanced File Matching module under Options menu. You can choose to ignore digits, enable comparing files only if they have the same size, ignore case, define the text in brackets to be ignored, enable tag info retrieving and comparing (if existent) and define the general strings to be ignored.

Additional functionality like Quick Rename tab in the upper part of the screen is useful. You can use it to rename file names. The tag renaming utility automatically corrects tags. Advanced users can specify their own hotkey for switching between file renamer and duplicate finder tabs bringing Options dialog to front, as well as DMFF and QMFR/QFTR (Quick Music Files Renamer and Quick File Tags Renamer) shortcuts like add folder, remove folder, process files, check all items, rename files and uncheck all items.
