FreeFileSync is an Open-Source folder comparison and synchronization tool for your netbook. Folders can be added for comparison by simply dragging and dropping them to the FreeFileSync user interface. The simple user interface makes it a very easy to use application to compare two folders and start synchronizing them. Sync works in one way or two-way or you can specify custom syncing settings.
FreeFileSync starts comparing the folders, which is done by either taking into consideration file size and date or the file contents for comparison. Once the files are compared you can easily sync them between the folders. If you are using the sync option for first time just to copy content of one folder into the other, FreeFileSync gives a warning that more than 50% of the files being synced are new.

Features:
- Compare files (bitwise or by date) and synchronize them.
- Sub folders are also synchronized, including empty folders.
- Select folders via drag & drop.
- Last configuration and screen settings are saved automatically.
- Maintain and load different configurations by drag & drop, load-button or command line.
- Right-click context menu.
- Progress indicators, status information and error reporting.
- Sort file-lists by name, size or date.
- Display statistical data: total file sizes, amount of bytes that will be transferred with the current settings.
- Easy configurable command line mode for automated synchronization.
- Support for file sizes > 4 GB.
- Option to move files to Recycle Bin instead of deleting/overwriting them.
- UTC (coördinated world time) is used when comparing file times avoiding problems with time zones or daylight saving time.
- Automatically ignore directories “\RECYCLER” and “System Volume Information” when comparing and syncing.
- Delete before copy: Avoid disk space shortages with large sync-operations.
- Filter functionality to include/exclude files from synchronization (without re-compare!).
- Include/exclude specific files from synchronization manually.
- Create sync jobs via GUI to synchronize automatically (can be scheduled or executed directly).
It is optimized for highest performance and usability without restricted or overloaded user interface, which is very good for computing devices like the netbook. FreeFileSync comes in both as standard Windows installer format and as portable zip archive version.
