MetroBackup: Backup, Sync, Mirror Directories of Your Netbook

MetroBackUp is a free and open-source application for netbook users. It helps you backup, synchronize and mirror directories easily (like Microsoft SyncToy). The application developer has kept the user-interface minimalist and has given the Windows 8 MetroUI look, and thus, you guessed it right, the application is aptly titled MetroBackUp.

MetroBackUp offers three different modes: Mirror Reference Directory, Mirror Reference Directory (without deleting files) and Synchronization. The applications also features export and import of the XML file metadata for synchronization purposes.

Mirror Reference Directory allows easy copying of content from one directory to another. Mirror Reference Directory (without deleting files) keeps reference directory files. Synchronization obviously synchronizes data to and from the selected directories.

After launching the app, click on the Add joblist (present in the bottom-left of the window) and give a proper name. Select the reference and target directories and the sync mode you want to use. Click on Synchronize to continue.

The app will now display a list of available files which it will mirror or sync. You can uncheck files to exclude (if required) from this list. Click Synchronize again, to continue.

The app will now sync or mirror the selected files instantly. After the process completes, the app displays a log of the process with details.

MetroBackup is a useful backup and sync tool for every netbook users which is dead simple to use. MetroBackup works on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7, but you will have to make sure .Net Framework 4 installed.
