MyDefrag: Best Free Disk Defragmenter and Optimizer for Netbook

MyDefrag (formerly known as JKDefrag) is a free disk defragmenter and optimizer for netbook users. It is available in both 32- and 64-bit versions and can handle USB disks, memory sticks, etc, in addition to defragmenting the hard-disk.

The program uses the Microsoft defragmentation API and is considered to be one of the fastest resource friendly file defragmentation programs available for the Windows operating system.

Several options are added as start menu entries after installing the latest MyDefrag version on the computer system. The real strength of MyDefrag are the extensive command line parameters and scripting possibilities. A script can be executed by simply double-clicking on it in Explorer, passing it as a parameter to MyDefrag invoked via a shortcut or the appropriate task scheduler.

MyDefrag requires administrator privilege to run and work properly and, if running from the Task Scheduler under Windows 7 or Vista, it is recommended that the SYSTEM account is used instead.

If you set MyDefrag GUI interface to be visible during the script execution, the default, unimpressive disk map is displayed which you can switch to a text-based statistics or progress view.
