Gadwin PrintScreen is a free screen capture software with great features and techniques. It lets you capture entire screen, capturing active window, or even capture just a rectangular part of the screen. Apart from that, it lets you directly open the captured image with any image editing software, without a need to do copy paste. And, you can choose the format of the image while capturing itself. Whew! That’s a long list of nice features for something as simple as screen capture.
Windows, like every other operating system, comes with the ability of screen capture. By default it does only two things: capture the whole screen (via Printscreen) or capture the active window (via Alt + PrintScreen) which it copies to the clipboard and you have to open up some other software to save the image. But what if you want to just capture a specific part of the screen? To serve all your screen capturing needs Gadwin PrintScreen is one of the best tools available for free.

How to Install and Configure Gadwin Printscreen:
The installation is pretty simple and straight forward; you will not find any problems here. Once installed you will notice a tray icon which means it’s running. If that is not the case, you’ll need to launch the application from Start Menu / Desktop icon. Once you are all set, click on the tray icon to open up the application to configure it.
I like to map the hotkey to the familiar old print screen button so that it feels like the software is an integratal part of the operating system. It also offers the ability to initiate time delay before capture.
Features of this Screen Capture Software:
Here are some of the features of Gadwin Printscreen. I have elaborated on these in the coming paragraphs.
- Availability of multiple hot keys.
- Capture Delay
- Ability to hide icons.
- Capture A selected area , window or the whole screen.
- Ability to capture Mouse cursor.
- Send captured area to printer automatically or send as an email.
- The option of opening the image with any image viewer or editor of your choice after a screen shot has been taken.
This screen capture software offers a good set of features which will solve most of the problems and difficulties associated with the process of screen capture.
Configuring Source:
Now select what you want to screen capture in the source options according to your needs. Its offers four options current window, client window, full screen , Rectangular Area. Out of the above four options current window , client window, and full screen is understood without any problem. In Rectangular area method you can select any part of the screen or the whole screen and double click on the area this will result in a screen capture of the selected area.
I like set the option to rectangular area because it’s a one stop solution. when capturing an area you are assisted by a magnifying glass so that you can get the borders right. This feature looks humble but is very useful. And this screen capture software also offers the ability to capture Mouse Cursor which by default is not available in windows. So if your showing some cursor themes or modifications then Gadwin PrintScreen is just the solution for you .
Configuring Destination:
In destination options I have set it up so that its automatically opens the image with Paint.net after I have taken a screen shot. So that I can edit and save it according to the required circumstances. Here you can also set up the ability to share the screen capture to the printer or send screen shot automatically via email. You should keep the naming process automatic. It results in images having a numeric postfix after the file name that you have set as standard. And also you have to ability to configure clipboard options.

Image Options:
This software offers the ability to setup the output image to different formats according to the requirements. The image captured can be saved in .bmp , .jpeg , .gif , .png , tif formats. The application supports automatic image re-sizing , Gray scaling , image shadows and time stamps.
To configure all the above options open Image options. To set automatic re-sizing all you have to do is enter the aspect ratio that you would like to keep for each screen shot and all images captured will be to your accordance; so that you don’t have to re-size them in a different application. It can be seen that this screen capture software provides enough features and the simplicity of use so that it ends up satisfying the simple-user as well as the power-user. This application streamlines the process of taking a screen shot , helps save time ,and reduces complications.
Verdict:
Gadwin Printscreen software offers lot of features and ease of use that definitely makes it one of the best free screen capturing software available for windows platform.
