ThinVNC: HTML5 Based Windows Remote Desktop Application for Netbooks

ThinVNC is a web-based Remote Desktop solution for netbook users. Using ThinVNC you can now access your office’s remote computer. You can get access to the remote computer using any HTML5 compliant modern web browser (like Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari, Opera, etc.). The application takes advantage of the latest web technologies like AJAX, JSON and HTML5 canvas to deliver a high-performance Remote Desktop access over the web, using HTTP and SSL protocols.

How to use ThinVNC?

You can download and install ThinVNC just like you do with any other standard Windows application. The service will launch itself into your Taskbar. You can customize the server settings by right-clicking on the ThinVNC icon present in the notification area of the taskbar.

The default login and password of ThinVNC is ’admin’ and ‘admin’ respectively. Since, this will be easy to guess by anyone, change the values to a more secure one.

Now for establishing a connection, enter the IP address of the system followed by the port number (HTTP: 8080 and for HTTPS: 8081) in any modern web browser which supports HTML 5.

Now, before opening the web interface, it will ask for the username and password (which you have set in settings under security tab). After verifying the login credentials, it will open the web interface of the application where you can enable or disable color and mouse control options. Now, click on Connect to remotely connect with the system.

After login, you will be able to use the web interface to browse the remote computer as shown below.
