TrayStatus is a small freeware application for netbook users which displays status of different keys in the taskbar. Normally, netbooks, laptops and many keyboards these days are coming without any status indicator lights for Num Lock, Caps Lock, etc. For this reason you may have difficulty in typing your correct password.
TrayStatus comes handy here by displaying status indicator for various keys in the system tray. This small application is even useful for viewing hard drive activity in your taskbar. TrayStatus can show you the following information in your taskbar’s notification area (system tray):
- Num Lock status
- Caps Lock status
- Scroll Lock status
- Alt key status
- Ctrl key status
- Shift key status
- Windows key status
- Hard Drive activity (read or write) with current speed in a tooltip
This information is shown using separate tray icons in the system tray. For instance, indicator icons for Num Lock appears in green color when they are turned on. Hovering the mouse pointer over the status icon displays a tooltip with more information. Hard drive activity indicator shows read and write speed on the tray icon.

By default, TrayStatus shows Num Lock, Caps Lock and Hard drive activity indicators only. This behavior can be easily changed using the program settings. You can further enable to show indicator status for Scroll lock, Alt Key, Ctrl Key, Shift Key and Win key. Though enabling all this might crowd your taskbar.
TrayStatus works on Windows XP/Vista/7 and requires .Net framework 2.0 to be installed.
Other similar lightweight status indicators application which we have seen before are NumCapsScroll Indicator, Keyboard Leds.
