WinLockr: Secure Your Netbook using USB Device

WinLockr is a portable application for netbook users which provides an extra layer of security by disabling the mouse and keyboard, except for the release key combination.

With WinLockr you can lock your netbook system simply by plugging in a USB, which has to be configured with this software. This provides an extra safety for your locked system and adds an extra layer of security which bars others from accessing your system in your absence.

The first time when you run the application, you will need to set up a password for locking your Windows-based netbook computer. Once you have set the password, you can now specify which lock type you want to use; USB or Password lock.

If you want to use USB Lock, plug in a USB device and click on the Install on USB button. This will configure the device to act as a locking mechanism for your PC. When the USB is plugged, the mouse and keyboard will be disabled and the screen will be locked, except for the exact password combination which will unlock your system.

WinLockr will even prevent Shutdown of Windows and every shutdown/restart/log off actions will also be blocked by WinLockr.  The lock screen will give information of any failed unlocks or shutdown attempts.

WinLockr is an excellent tool to prevent unauthorized access to your netbook. WinLockr works on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.
